Academic studies

I am Dr. Shadi Duqmaq, a piano teacher and hold a doctorate in music pedagogy. I was born and grew up in Amman / Jordan. Currently i live and work in Dusseldorf and the surrounding area.

My contact with the music and the world of keyboard instruments began relatively early. The regular piano lessons, the school and church choir, and participating in the band rehearsals of my school have influenced and enriched my musical career.

After I finished school I studied in my home town, Amman, musicology at the Jordan Academy of Music where I earned in 1998 the title "Bachelor of Arts".

In 2001 I moved to Germany, where I continued my artistic-educational studies in piano, first at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, Department of Dortmund (undergraduate 2003), then at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Dusseldorf (graduate music teacher 2006). After my Master degree in music pedagogy, I graduated at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in Music Education with the dissertation "Music Pedagogical work with ADHD children of primary school age, including music therapy approaches" (Dr. Paed. 2009).
